“I am frequently wrong. So are you. Welcome to life.” — Just Wright Citrus T-shirt. All the important stuff, I’ve learned in the rooms of recovery. Such as: One day at a time. This too shall pass. Nothing changes if nothing changes. Where to begin. There is so much to say about what happened, or rather DIDN’T happen, at Tuesday’s County Commission meeting on the local option sales tax. First off, I guess, the news. Commissioners discussed the penny sales tax idea for roads and buying conservation land. They didn’t reach consensus or even a vote. Zero direction. None. No plan to bring it back. Far as we’re all concerned, the thing is dead. My, oh my, it’s a beautiful Tuesday! Let’s jump into it. Four items on today’s County Commission agenda have my particular interest. All should have a ring of familiarity to them. They are: Happy Monday! Let’s start the week talking a little about leadership and vision. I’ve been writing about the One for All sales tax idea for quite some time. We’ve covered the numbers, the possible uses, and the public involvement. From the start, we suggested that county commissioners stay on the sidelines for the immediate time. They did that, some not happy about it, giving the process time to develop before they jumped in. And now, the important question: How’s Bunny adjusting? Answer: Very well, thank you for asking! Major shoutout to the JWC readers whose doggy advice made this house transition so much easier. Your suggestions to bring Bunny with me during the weeks-long moving process was spot on. By the time the move to World Headquarters III was final, she had already picked out her hiding spot in a closet and got a feel for the place. |
