One last county commission meeting of 2022 so let’s talk about that for a minute. The three major issues on Tuesday’s agenda are all holdovers from the prior board. That’s what happens. Changing of the guard rarely happens with issues being wrapped up nice and neat. If you live in this county and haven’t seen Santa yet in a parade, you’re missing out. What a great couple of weekends in our community. Christmas parades on land and water, tree lighting ceremonies, and just a ton of good feeling all around. Two items of supreme importance today so your full attention please: 1. I lost my wallet.
Let’s tackle No. 1 first. And then I'll explain today's graphic. Let me tell you a little about Mike Moberley. Mike (that's him in the picture with our governor) is chairman of the Citrus County Republican Executive Committee. That may not mean much to some people but in a county where politics is watched keenly like high school football, he's head coach of the winning team. I’ve always known Mike as a fair and reasonable person. Someone extremely knowledgeable of Republican issues and truly dedicated to the cause. This is why I so much enjoy writing about local government. Tuesday night was just another ordinary Inverness City Council meeting, except with a fresh face on the dais. Crystal Lizanich took the oath of office along with three other incumbents, and off we went. You know what drives me crazy? Well, a lot of things, but today’s topic is governments that can’t get along. You may have read last week that Commissioner Jeff Kinnard wants the county to explore leaving one water district for another water district. One day many years ago I was walking through Inverness and saw then-City Manager Frank DiGiovanni standing on the corner of Dampier and Seminole, a few steps outside old city hall, looking off into the distance. “If you’re waiting for the Crown bus, it’s not coming,” I told him. Back by popular demand from those toiling at Just Wright Citrus World Headquarters…Friday photo page! I take a lot of photos with my phone camera and most, thankfully, never see the light of day.
