My outdoor Christmas lights are up. Unlike those who make this an art form, my Christmas light display is usually a hodge-podge string of haphazard design. It has the look of a project that’s in the early stages, like I had to quit and run off before finishing up. Outdoor Christmas lights were a mainstay at Just Wright Citrus World Headquarters on the shores of Big Lake Henderson. I put them up one year and never took ‘em down. Same thing with the artificial Christmas tree. And now for something really important: How’s Bunny? Bunny is great. Bunny is happy. Bunny is playful. Bunny chews my pens, so she’s on the JWC Editorial Board. Hey, it’s Wednesday, so let’s talk about us. My, we’ve had some spirited conversations this week as I transition from nearly six weeks of grieving back to whatever the blog is looking like these days. And, early on, I can see readers are a little confused. Am I now the county government cheerleader? Are we to assume the 491 mess never happened? Worse yet, is Mike GOING SOFT? Not sure when I discovered how much fun true journalism can be. Didn’t happen every day, but sinking my teeth into a juicy story, I knew there was a very good chance that before it was all over, I’d be ruining someone’s Sunday. That’s where the big stories always ended up, leading Sunday’s newspaper. It’s the dream spot for reporters like me who write stories that make people go, “What the heck?!” |
