Happy Friday! Little bells-and-whistle time. Monday is the fifth anniversary of Just Wright Citrus LLC. I can scarcely believe it. I spent my entire adult life working for someone else. Overnight, I was my own boss, asking businesses for advertising sponsorships, sending out invoices, paying my taxes monthly. Just Wright Citrus adds value to the community, contributes to various causes, and has an Inverness business license (that I just renewed this week). I had originally planned some deep-winded reflection on five years, how things have changed in that time. I mean…when I started the internet only had three channels. I’ll simply say this: I’m very happy with the blog. I’m happy with the pace, I’m happy with how it’s evolved. We’re the Citrus County think tank, that hasn’t changed. Lots of social media voices elsewhere; we’ve carved out a niche, and I see no reason to fool with that formula. And that’s as deep as I’ll go with that. Instead…photo page! OK, so you know I’m into selfies. Not sure how that started, but it’s become a staple. Here are a few from the JWC photo vault: Heading to Lakeland on a Bunny Road Trip the other day (don’t ask), it dawned on me how vast sections of Florida are nowhere near water. Man, are we fortunate to be surrounded by water on three sides. And they all make wonderful selfie backdrops, whether the Homosassa River, Fort Island Gulf Beach, Yankeetown boat ramp, or my favorite east Citrus visit, Turner Camp Road at the Withlacoochee. Job perk: Selfie with celebrities! Lucked out with this hawk selfie from the original JWC World Headquarters on the shores of Big Lake Henderson. I’m pretty sure this was to make a point about watching the county like a hawk. Believe it or not, there’s a method to my photo madness. My home away from home. Sometimes, I cheat and watch online from World Headquarters III. Mostly, though, I’m in the Courthouse two Tuesdays a month. It’s really very simple. The County Commission is Citrus County’s Legislature, our Congress. You need to know what’s going on down there. The newspaper provides day-to-day activity, and I’m a big-picture guy. Other bloggers also weigh in. One thing I’ll say: The county government is covered quite well these days. Not a selfie, of course. But a favorite photo, one I can’t turn from. There's no blog without Deb. I would never have made it without her encouragement. And the Buddy blogs were legendary. That dog. The two of them were so playful together. I miss them both tremendously. Thanks to readers, advertising sponsors (they’re the best!), and generous donors, Just Wright Citrus has had five wonderful years, one blog at a time. No reason to slow down now. Have a great weekend, friends. Join the discussion on our Facebook page. Enjoying the blog? Please consider supporting it at Venmo, PayPal, or Patreon.
