![]() Oh boy. Never dull around here. The Chronicle’s announcement Thursday that starting April 1 it will cease publication of Sunday/Monday print editions and, at the same time, stop home delivery through carriers, was certainly met with plenty of opinions on the Just Wright Citrus Facebook page. Before I get into it, let’s just breathe a little, OK? ![]() Welcome to my first annual Feb. 29 blog. Just for today, 29 random thoughts: 1. This weekend is the Floral City Strawberry Festival at Floral Park. I can say a bunch of cool things about the festival but know this: Just a ton of fun. And never too early to get a jump on Ferris Groves’ strawberry milkshakes. 2. Wawa needs a tip jar. ![]() Took a drive Tuesday out C.R. 491 north of Beverly Hills, trying to envision Tuscany Ranch. Over 7,000 homes and apartments. Shops, professional offices, and restaurants. Cool parks and walking trails. Exquisite landscaping. And, of course, the lagoon. I’m not the only one wondering how this mega-development looks down the line. ![]() A pair of Tuesday topics from perusing County Commission emails: — If you haven’t driven along Maylen Avenue to see the Suncoast Parkway construction I suggest you do. Maylen, Sanction, and Lee Ann streets all have major road construction sitting right on top of them. One Lecanto resident noted the obvious: These streets aren’t built to handle heavy trucks. ![]() Happy Monday! Let’s chat about us. That’s right. You and me, the Citrus Countian. It’s a fairly wide net — 160,000. Some older, some younger. Some live on King’s Bay. Others in a single-wide trailer on the outskirts of Pineola. ![]() There are truths to this blog business, and here is one: Sometimes I’m not in any mood to write. That’s problematic since the entire daily Just Wright Citrus product is a 700-word message. Without the writing, there’s clearly no blog. ![]() It dawned the other day that the Legislature is monkeying with our voting rights, and it’s best you hear about it. Two bills are in the current Session to discuss, and one approved last year that is on our 2024 ballot to vote up or down. Let’s jump into that one first. — Voters will be asked to decide whether School Board races should be partisan or remain nonpartisan. ![]() Not sure where to go with this. So I’m just going to ramble. — The County Commission voted 3-2 to approve a three-story mini-warehouse at the Target shopping center complex. ![]() Happy Tuesday! Two morsels on our plate today: 1. County government space needs. 2. Betz Farm. — Few issues are as costly and time-wasting as decisions about government space. ![]() Meet Curtiss Bryant. His friends call him Curtiss or CJ. He and his wife own a photography business. He grew up in Inverness, lived a spell in Beverly Hills, and now calls Lecanto his home. CJ’s a bright guy. We spent a good 90 minutes chatting at Cattle Dog the other day, and the time flew right by. He knows his stuff. |
