Someone reached out Thursday to have a chat. Nothing special, just ideas he wanted to toss about and wondered if I’d be interested to listen. This isn’t someone I know. We may have met but I’m not sure. He’s a Just Wright Citrus reader and interested in local politics. OK, let's try this again. I’m having a party. You’re invited. Forget the Facebook invite I sent last week and then immediately canceled. More about that snafu in a minute. Oh, the particulars: Saturday, Oct. 7, open house from 1 to 5 p.m. at Just Wright Citrus World Headquarters on the shores of Big Lake Henderson in Inverness. Today’s wrap from Tuesday’s County Commission meeting has less to do with what was done rather than what was said. Sort of a weird meeting for me. I’m still in somewhat of a fog and only decided to walk to the Courthouse from Just Wright Citrus World Headquarters at the last minute instead of watching online. Some blogs just write themselves. Like this one. A government agency entirely on its own did something dumb and now refuses to fix it despite clearly being in the wrong. And it’s not just bureaucracy — the effect places Crystal River boaters in potential danger. So that doubles down on dumb. Anything happened while I was in quarantine? That’s the weird thing about this particular virus go-around. Not nearly as bad as the first time, thank God, but still need to isolate. It kept me home with bedrest and all that, but I like being out and about, seeing the world as we know it. First off this Friday, thank you. Your kindness to my post Thursday of no blog was very much appreciated. I’m feeling much more human today. Enough, anyway, for a Friday post of random thoughts with one caveat: No politics. Here we go: We had a little weather the other day. A week ago Tuesday we all went to bed with visions of hurricane cones in our heads. Wednesday morning was a relief for most in Citrus County, but the trouble was just starting in Crystal River. |
